Hard Rock Medicalhard rock medical
dramatic series for TV

Hard Rock Medical, a weekly television drama series set in a medical school in Northern Ontario, will take viewers into the hearts, minds, and souls of a group of med students whose teachers attempt to educate them—and to persuade them to stay on in the North once they’ve become doctors. For a northern doctor, whose patients are often spread across far-flung and isolated communities, practising medicine here can be a cold, lonely, and sometimes impossible mission that demands more of these neophyte students than humanity and good bedside manner alone can sustain. Hard Rock Medical is being developed in partnership with Distinct Features.

Rush to Judgmentog
documentary

Rush to Judgment recounts the 1989 arrest, trial, and incarceration of Canadians Christine Lamont and David Spencer in Brazil, for the kidnapping of Abilio Diniz, one of that country’s wealthiest men. Though fairly tried and convicted of the kidnapping in Brazil, Spencer and Lamont were portrayed in Canada as innocent and naïve “human rights idealists” and “freedom fighters,” caught up in the crime and used by Brazil for political ends. Using actual news stories of the day, Rush to Judgment will examine how two such disparate versions of the same crime could have been produced simultaneously, and will explore the role and function of public relations in shaping media coverage; “herd” journalism; ethnic and national stereotyping; and the manufacturing of consent—and perhaps innocence. Rush to Judgment is a co-venture with Chocolate Moose Media.

Those Guysog
comedy-caper feature film

In this old-fashioned caper movie with a new-age twist, two loveable losers win on a long-shot horse race, lose it all in a backroom card game, then end up owing a gangster a big time debt that has them fleeing both the cops and the mob. Those Guys capitalizes on the high television profiles of Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway?) and Patrick McKenna (The Red Green Show, Traders) in a comedy-action picture that returns to the good old-fashioned values of guns, larceny, and murder. The film is being developed in collaboration with Distinct Features and P.J. Productions Ltd.
